In the mid 1950’s, Jeanie & Chuck O’hare built their dream home along the heavily traveled Highway 58 connecting Bakersfield and Las Vegas. Soon the Idle Spurs Ranch was born offering a cozy desert oasis for travelers and locals alike. Guests were served country style beef dishes in the vibrantly decorated lounge and spacious outdoor patio. In 1974, the restaurant was purchased by Morgan Meat Company owners Donna Ray and her late husband Morgan, changing the name to Idle Spurs Steakhouse. Having previously supplied the Spurs with their quality beef, the Ray’s had a vision for the beautiful home. They expanded into the bedroom areas and outdoor swimming pool to provide more dining space and a larger bar. A skylight in the center of the building brings life to numerous plants.
Mouthwatering steaks, fresh and creative soups & salads, and more served daily.
Excellent steak, friendly staff. Great stop off between Las Vegas and LA.
Community minded, great staff, and a great Ortega chicken sandwich.
I really liked this place. Starting with its out of the way location, the “throwback” decor and even the old style country music playing in the background. I also must complement the staff, very professional and proper, our drinks were kept full and every need attended too.
